sightings 1973

These paintings are based on photographs made in 1973. It was a tumultuous year of Watergate and the Vietnam War. And coincidentally, there were an unusual amount of UFO sightings and supposed alien abductions, even Jimmy Carter reported a sighting. 1973 was also a year that was personally one of unsettling anxiety. I suspended making art for many years after. These paintings indicate a presence that lives outside the frame. They touch the ephemeral quality of personal history and memory.
